Centrepoint Metro Station (formerly Al Rashidya) is located in Al Rashidiya, a residential area in northern Dubai. The area itself consists mostly of schools and community centers, but Centrepoint is the closest station to the Dubai Airport Expo.
Sheikh Zayed Road, a major highway, runs east-west along the Red Line of the Dubai Metro. Business hubs like Dubai Internet City and tourist destinations like the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall are connected to destinations further east, including Dubai Airport. It is interesting to note that Centrepoint is one of the few stations with three tracks rather than the usual two. With this extra track, trains can be stored and held more easily.
